Manoj Baviskar
In his works here, Manoj has worked on the romantic idea of February, turning it on its head, as fiery red chillies replace the traditional velvety petals of the passionate red rose, in the image of his throbbing and pulsating heart. It is also the month when crops of chillies are laid out to dry in the sun in his native Aurangabad, a natural image that he has grown up with. Plus the fact that for a while now he has been engaged with issues of the human anatomy, and the related issues of disease and health in both physical and sociological terms. All of these inform his artworks on display in the exhibition.
